Product design for storied Italian crystal manufacturer Arnolfo di Cambio.
Reminiscent of the throwing discus commonly used in field athletics, Discus is a modern two-part caviar dish. The base and cover are made entirely in pressed crystal and feature an angled edge profile that prevents the cover from slipping off the ice-filled base while ensuring that it is always self-centered. The caviar is presented in the cavity of the cover, which can easily be lifted thanks to two cutout details in the base. To ensure optimal cooling, the crystal thickness at the centre of the cavity is as thin as possible.
